Mechanics & Industry
The aim of Mechanics & Industry, the journal of AFM (French Association of Mechanics), is to act as an interface between research and industry by coordinating and disseminating the results of scientific and technical research in the field of mechanics in close relation to industrial applications. Academic and industrial authors are therefore expected.
The scope of the journal is related to fluid and solid mechanics, mechanical engineering, heat and mass transfer, mechanics of metallic/polymer/composite/fiber materials, numerical and experimental techniques applied to static and dynamic of structures, machines, mechanisms. The couplings with different fields of physics are welcome such as mechatronics, smart material/structures/robotics/manufacturing, biomechanics, vibro-acoustics, aero-acoustics, electro-mechanical systems, innovative manufacturing, tribology, turbomachinery, etc.
Are excluded of the Mechanics & Industry scope: the Earth and Universe Sciences, industrial management, civil engineering, solar energy, thermal energy, medical imaging, non-destructive testing, CAD-CAM-productivity-manufacturing, pure metallurgy, rock mechanics, pure analytical/theoretical mechanics, to name just a few. Papers dealing with a simple application of machine learning techniques without original contribution in the scopes of the journal are also excluded.
From a general point of view, combining theoretical/numerical with experimental approaches or pratical applications such as proof of concept or prototype is welcome.

General information
Open Access Charges of M&I
Mechanics & Industry publishes all articles open access under a CC-BY license, enabling them to retain copyright and be fully compliant with any open access requirements of funding organisations.
Generally, authors should pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) after the publication acceptance of their manuscript.
However, corresponding authors from institutions which are part of the French National Open Access Agreement are able to publish in Mechanics & Industry without fees, because the APCs are taken in charge by this Agreement.
Similar agreements are already in place with German academic institutions and eligible Chinese Academy of Sciences institutes, authors can get 20 percent discounted APC price, find details here.
The open access fee (APC) covers the costs involved in the open access publication, such as editorial handling, copyediting, data management, proofs, administrative overheads and technologies in order to make your article findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable.
The French Association of Mechanics (AFM) and EDP Sciences will continue their efforts to secure funding for APCs via such agreements.
